@ Squee:
I did check and you're right, bus prices are decent so, that's a plus. Chill rides are cool, but at the moment bus is our only savior, that is, our only for sure way there and back.
Anyway, the stars seem right so, I think I'll make it unless there's some huge catastrophic disaster that blows p-town off the map (and even then I'd probably still go).
Just a tip, having traveled by bus and train between Eugene and Portland a lot. If you aren't absolutely completely scraping pennies broke, don't ride Greyhound. Amtrak has a bus service (thru-way buses, I think they are called) between Eugene and Portland that are only a couple of dollars more than Greyhound, and they are usually almost empty, completely clean and on time. In case you weren't away, Greyhound is never any of these things. Also, for a little bit more you can ride the train, but if you do, make very sure to take Cascades and not Starlight. Cascades is waaay cheaper, nicer and less crowded.
If you are deciding between riding an Amtrak bus or their Cascades train, the differences are: Cascades is comfier, has food, has walking room, has power outlets and shows a movie, but costs more and takes longer than the bus.
